  • INNOVATIVE & CREATIVE: INDIGENOUS PROJECTS

Since 2000, Steve has worked with Indigenous artists, designers & curators to produce major projects, including several creative placemaking initiatives for public spaces (Barangaroo, Sydney 2017-2019) and producing innovative exhibitions through the Australian Design Centre (2000-2015) for public galleries and museums, presented across Australia and internationally.

  • CREATIVE & THE CONTEMPLATIVE: VIVID FESTIVAL

Steve’s innovative and experiential programs have been curated into the VIVID Ideas Festival for 3-years running (2022/23/24). Collaborating with a wide-range of guest facilitators, Steve has created sessions that bring contemplative practices, slow looking and deep listening to be experienced through art, architecture and within nature.

  • CREATIVE & THE CONTEMPLATIVE: Art of Deep Looking

AoDL is a platform providing access to programs, workshops and virtual opportunities for exploring the mindful and contemplative experience of art, architecture, and nature. Utilising frameworks and tools, from wisdom traditions thousands of years old, to help us concentrate on the present moment with clarity and precision.

ILLUME art mindfully

primary project across 2024 - 2025

CREATIVE & THE CONTEMPLATIVE

The ILLUME art mindfully App provides guided mindful moments to illuminate how we might connect deeply with a work of art. The App prototype features museums and galleries from around the world including MoMA, NYC; National Gallery, London; Uffizi Gallery, Florence; the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam; Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC; and Sydney’s Art Gallery of NSW.

The App provides guided sessions alongside the works by artists such as Kandinsky, Vermeer, Artemisia, Caravaggio, Hokusai, van Gogh, Modigliani, Manet, Hilma af Klint, Mondrian, Malevich, Morisot & Cézanne.

The App was created for use while visiting a museum or at home on your tablet or desktop computer, looks to bring greater awareness to what one is seeing, what one is sensing and feeling when experiencing an artwork. ILLUME uses mindfulness based approaches and a range of contemplative practices to build a deeper connection with art.

Steve Pozel Projects is proud to be located within the Country of Darug and Gundungurra People.

I acknowledge and pay my respect to the Traditional Custodians the Darug and Gundungurra People, and to Elders past and present.

For Darug and Gundungurra People, Ngurra (Country) takes in everything within physical, cultural and spiritual landscape - the landforms, waters, air, trees, rocks, plants, animals, foods, medicines, minerals, stories and special places. It includes cultural practice, kinship, knowledge, songs, stories and art, as well as spiritual beings, and people: past, present and future.

I recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture as the oldest continuing culture in the world. I celebrate in the diversity of language, culture, custom, ceremony and knowledge (Lore) of First Peoples as Traditional Owners, custodians and communities with an ongoing connection across land, sea and waterways.

I also acknowledge that the lands on which I live and work are unceded – always was, always will be, Aboriginal Land.
